Project Overview

Linear was engaged by Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure Management (DBIM) to design its new yard machine, Reclaimer RL4. The new 1400t mobile machine will be replacing an existing machine that has reached its end of life.
Overview

Project Overview

Reclaimer RL4 is a new rail mounted, slewing, luffing, bucketwheel reclaimer that is capable of reclaiming coal at a nominal rate of 5,300tph.

The Challenge

The Challenge

Mobile machines are composed of intricate mechanical, structural, and electrical components, supported by robust steel plates and rotating structures that must endure high fatigue loading. Designing such machines requires specialised expertise to ensure durability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

At Linear Engineering, we excel in the design of complex mobile machines, leveraging our unique expertise to deliver high-performance solutions tailored to meet the most demanding operational requirements. Our focus is on optimising performance while minimising costs, providing you with innovative engineering that drives value and efficiency.

The Solution

The Solution

Linear’s engineers pushed the limits of industries technologies through discrete element modelling (DEM), finite element analysis (FEA) and first principles to design the machineLinear have also introduced innovative systems for collaborative review in real time, as featured in the September 2024 issue of Bulk Handling Review Magazine.

The Results

High Standards, Efficient Implementation

While the design is still in progress, Linear has provided innovative solutions to a series of technical challenges, all under the ongoing support of the client technical team.  After design is complete later this year (2024), Linear will continue to support the client through construction assistance and commissioning support.

Linear is proud to be associated with a prestigious client and project and is pleased to be making inroads to some of the most challenging design situations in the materials handling industry.
