SCC Terminal Construction

Consulting

Project Overview

Linear was engaged by Southern Cross Cement (SCC) in an Owner’s Engineer role, to support the development of a new cement terminal at the Port of Brisbane.

Overview

Project Overview

The project involved the construction of a cement terminal consisting of a 500 tph mobile cement unloader machine, 40000T of cement storage in silos, and truckloading facilities with 4 weighbridges on the existing Graincorp wharf.

  • Mobile cement unloader installation
  • 40000T cement storage construction
  • Truckloading facilities with 4 weighbridges
The Challenge

The Challenge

The terminal’s structure and equipment were largely supplied by an overseas vendor, meaning the whole design had to be meticulously double-checked for compliance with Australian Standards. Linear also assisted SCC in the review and selection of a silo vendor capable of supplying to stringent Euro Code design requirements.

  • Maintaining quality control across international vendors
  • Reviewing and upgrading structures to comply with Australian Standards
  • Selecting a suitable Euro Code-compliant silo vendor
The Solution

The Solution

Linear supported SCC at every stage of the project, well after performing the initial design review. During fabrication, Linear personnel were involved in site visits to the Chinese facilities to check quality assurance documentation, discuss design-related issues, and to review progress. Once structure and equipment started to arrive at the Port of Brisbane site, Linear also assisted SCC with onsite construction assistance and more.

  • Fabrication and construction quality control
  • Commissioning support during initial start-up
  • Engineer involvement from ongoing plant ramp-up to full throughput
